GUAGUA, PAMPANGA – Fund raising for CCTV cameras requested by the citizens of Brgy. Maquiapo now effective after almost a month of preparation.

Administered by the Barangay captain, Hon. Delano Serrano, the fund raising for CCTV cameras already garnered a total of P50,000 down payment as of October 4, 2016, enough to temporarily provide 16 CCTV cameras after almost a month of advocating it. Hon. Delano Serrano said that the residents of Brgy. Maquiapo were the ones who contributed and exerted a lot for the project as CCTV cameras were highly requested for their protection.

He also said that he consulted the workers of the barangay about the installation of CCTV cameras to help elliminate crimes in their barangay. “Malaking tulong ito lalo na nakakatakot panahon ngayon. Dagdag seguridad at para matakot narin ang mga may binabalak na masama. Natutuwa din ako kase may nagmomonitor na sa mga lumalabas at pumapasok sa barangay namin.” [It is a big help for us especially today. It is also to add up security and to scare away those who have bad motives. I am also happy because they can now monitor who are leaving and entering our barangay.] Said Catherine Magcalas, who is a resident of barangay, when asked on how she feels about the project.

The barangay captain himself is the one who monitors the cameras every morning along with his subordinates, and the “tanod(s)” will take place every evening.

The fund raising is expected to carry on even after its promotion date as contributors of Barangay Maquiapo continue to donate pledges, since the barangay still needs to accumulate a total of Php 150,000 for permanent installation of CCTV cameras.
