Man commits suicide due to recent break-up

A young man from Brgy. Pulung Sabado, Valdez, Floridablanca, Pampanga named Marvin Batican, 21 years old, was found dead at his room last September 25, 2016, Sunday at around 9:00 in the evening. He died by hanging himself using an electric wire.

Marvin works at Sucat, Paranaque as a house painter. According to his mother, he went home on Saturday from his work and told her about the conflict he and his girlfriend were undergoing. She said, he even sent her girlfriend a message on Facebook yet received no reply, so he borrowed his mother’s phone and pretended to be her.

On the message, it was stated, “Nagpakamatay si Marvin dahil sa’yo. Kasalanan mo ‘to.” Afterwards, the girl called to confirm whether the text message was factual or someone was just making fun of her.

Marissa Calma, Marvin’s mother, was the one who answered the call and said that it was all lies and it was just done to make the girl realize that he was saddened for what happened to both of them.

She also said that on Sunday afternoon, Marvin invited his cousins over to their house for a drinking session. He told them that he was going to attempt suicide since his girlfriend broke up with him but, they didn’t take him seriously since he was all drunk that time.

After their session, Marvin immediately went to his room. Later that night, his older sister, Michelle, noticed the eerie silence in his room. She got curious so she called her younger sister and asked her to take a peep inside his room to see what was happening.

She got shocked upon seeing his brother hanging from the ceiling unconscious and lifeless. They immediately brought him to Floridablanca Doctors Hospital Inc (FDHI), but was later declared dead-on-arrival.
