The Iron Lady of Asia dies at 71

The country mourns as the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago passed away, aged 71, after battling with stage 4 lung cancer, Thursday Morning at St. Luke’s Medical Center 29th day of September, 2016.
The Senator died in her sleep according to her husband, Atty. Jun Santiago. Her remains was brought at the Cathedral Grottos of the Immaculate Conception Church in Cubao, Quezon City.
Lots of supporters went to see the senator to pay their respect. Friends and colleagues also paid respect.
Santiago was known as a feisty senator that captured the heart of many Filipinos but beyond that, she was also known for her pick-up lines that captured the youth.
Santiago served to the three branches of the government. She was also the first Filipino to be elected as judge in the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Her last public appearance was when she ran for the 2016 presidential elections.
She was laid to her final destination in Loyola Memorial Park Marikina next to the tomb of her son who passed 13 years ago on Sunday Afternoon, October 2, 2016.
